LETTER FROM THE SECRETARY-GENERAL
Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisors,
It is my privilege and pleasure to welcome you to the 11th annual Graded Model United Nations Conference (GMUN) on behalf of the entire Secretariat.
For over a decade, GMUN has brought together bright, passionate students from across Brazil and the world to follow in the footsteps of negotiators. Based on the United Nations' vision, our conference hopes to replicate the issues, opportunities, and responsibilities of international diplomacy. Through negotiation in GMUN, delegates are urged to bridge divides, negotiate, and advocate for solutions to problems that resonate far beyond their committee room.
We believe that Model United Nations is not just a simulation, but a transformative experience. Over the weekend, you will develop essential skills in negotiation, critical thinking, and public speaking, but also engage in substantive discussions with other students who hold diverse perspectives and experiences. By taking part, you uphold GMUN’s legacy to promote international understanding, respect for different perspectives, and a spirit of cooperation.
For some of you, GMUN XI will be your first step into the world of Model UN; for others, it will be a continuation of a journey of growth and leadership. Regardless of your experience level, our goal is to provide an environment that is both intellectually rigorous and rewarding. Whether in the General Assembly, the Security Council, or in one of our special committees, you will be asked to be creative, work with others, and come up with solutions that reflect the essence of diplomacy.
To our distinguished Faculty Advisors, we offer our deepest thanks for your time and effort. Your mentorship is invaluable in guiding students to be diplomats, and your support allows us to have our conference.
We encourage you to review the resources available on our site and to reach out to our Secretariat with any questions or issues. For the most part, we encourage you to make the most of this experience!
On behalf of the GMUN XI Secretariat, I wish you an engaging, productive, and memorable conference.

Best regards,
Bia C.
