Lower School

As you explore the hallways and courtyards of Graded's Lower School, you'll discover a thriving and inclusive community where everyone feels a sense of belonging. Our diverse group of educators and learners comes from a variety of backgrounds and cultures, creating a rich tapestry of perspectives and experiences that enriches the learning environment.

For our youngest learners, their journey begins in a mixed-age Montessori-based pre-Kindergarten class. Kindergarten is a bridge to the primary years. In this final stage of our Early Years Program, children deepen their learning through exploration, emerging academics, and growing independence—preparing for a smooth transition to first grade

As first graders, students enter our wider community, joining the bigger kids on the playground and engaging in more robust lives of readers, writers, and thinkers. They gradually make their way up the ramp to second grade, eventually settling in our busy central courtyard as third graders.

Fourth grade brings a whole new level of excitement with the first overnight trip, and fifth graders are carefully prepared for the transition to Middle School. Throughout their time at Graded's Lower School, students have opportunities to explore music, delve into art projects, and develop their physical abilities through physical education.

From the independent learning of the Montessori experience to the changing classroom environments in fifth grade, we believe that our students are at the heart of their own education. Our goal is to help them become empowered, ethical, and engaged citizens in a dynamic world. We invite you to join us on this exciting journey of growth and discovery!
