Back To School

Alexa Schmid, High School Principal

The start of a new academic year is always filled with energy and promise. As our hallways come alive again, our focus goes far beyond setting schedules—it centers on intentionally cultivating an environment where every student feels seen, challenged, and empowered to reach their full potential.

From day one, our teachers dive directly into meaningful learning engagements while building the essential foundations for growth. Before deep academic exploration can happen, classrooms must be spaces of trust and safety. Teachers are actively collaborating with students to co-create class norms, establish clear expectations, and unpack course learning outcomes.

A central pillar guiding this work is our newly established High School Community Norms, which were thoughtfully developed last year through a collaborative process involving both student and faculty voices:

Together, these shared commitments ensure we nurture every heart and every mind, grounding our day-to-day actions in our core values of Intellectual Curiosity, Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, and Kindness.

Partnering for the Year Ahead

Education is a shared journey, and true student success rests on a strong foundation of open communication, mutual respect, and a genuine home-school partnership. Our upcoming Back-to-School Nights are designed specifically around this spirit of connection.

The evening offers a window into your child’s daily experience. It is a chance to put faces to names, step into the environments where your children learn each day, and hear directly from teachers about how they will nurture and challenge your student throughout the year.

To support your family holistically, you will also have the opportunity to connect directly with specialized resource teams across campus:

  • College Counselors to discuss future academic pathways.
  • Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Counselors to explore our comprehensive student support network.
  • IB Coordinator to answer questions about our rigorous academic framework.
  • Director of Athletics & Activities to discuss opportunities for engagement beyond the classroom.
  • SG&P Representatives to help guide and support any parent questions regarding Toddle.
  • Librarians to showcase media resources, research tools, and literacy initiatives.

We look forward to welcoming you to campus, deepening our partnership, and launching a year defined by curiosity, growth, and belonging. See you soon!
