Graded Hosts SAAC Fine Arts Festival
The Graded Gazette
Artistic collaboration can get messy. Everyone has a different perspective. Everyone has an opinion. But then it clicks, and it becomes something excellent.
Graded recently hosted the South American Activities Conference (SAAC) Fine Arts Festival for the first time, bringing together student artists from seven international schools across six South American countries for three days of creativity, collaboration, and performance in music, drama, visual arts, and film. Guided by the theme Resistance and Resilience, students explored how the arts can challenge injustice, express identity, and imagine new possibilities.
Months of preparation led up to their arrival on campus: practicing music selections, learning lines, creating artwork, and writing scripts. Then, with just three days on site, they navigated the collaborative process, refined their work, and pulled it all together into final performances, screenings, and exhibitions.
Along the way, they learned from peers and teachers from other schools, took part in cultural workshops, and built friendships that extend beyond the festival.
We were honored to welcome student artists and educators from Colegio Americano de Quito, Colegio Franklin Delano Roosevelt, International School of Curitiba, Lincoln – The American International School of Buenos Aires, The International School Nido de Aguilas, and Uruguayan American School.
