Students Explore the Amazon Biome in Honor of Brazilian Independence Day

The Graded community came together to celebrate 7 de setembro (Brazilian Independence Day) with a special event highlighting the Amazon biome. Throughout the week, students explored the region’s people, culture, flora, and fauna in their Portuguese classes, then brought their learning to life during the celebration.
 

Organized by the PTA, the celebration featured music, dance, and traditional treats. Students also heard from the NGO SOS Mata Atlântica and had the opportunity to pet animals native to the Amazon, such as the jibóia (Amazonian boa constrictor). The day brought together learning, culture, and community in celebration of Brazil’s diversity.
