7 de Setembro at Graded: Celebrating Olympic Achievements and Cultural Heritage

At Graded, 7 de setembro, one of the first events of the school year, is a special PTA-organized celebration where students dive into Brazilian history through immersive and engaging experiences. This year's Brazilian Independence Day celebration highlighted Brazil’s achievements in the Olympics and Paralympics.

The Student Center was adorned with patriotic decorations, and students proudly wore the colors of Brazil’s flag. Traditional snacks fueled the fun, while games and presentations highlighted inspiring Brazilian athletes and the country’s contributions to sports.

Interactive workshops offered students hands-on experiences with Brazilian-originated sports, such as capoeira—a captivating blend of martial art and dance native to Brazil—and peteca, a native Brazilian traditional game. Students also explored other sports, such as gymnastics, a field where Brazil has earned many Olympic medals.

Past 7 de setembro themes have included Brazil's multiculturalism and the 100th anniversary of the 1922 Modern Art Week, making each year’s celebration a unique opportunity to learn about a different facet of Brazilian heritage, bring the community together, and foster pride in Brazil’s history, culture, and achievements.
