IB History Students Showcase Research Skills Through Internal Assessments

Senior IB History students submitted their Internal Assessments, independent research projects that require them to apply their skills and knowledge while thinking like professional historians. Each student developed a research question, engaged with primary sources, and considered multiple perspectives while pursuing a topic of personal interest.

A few of this year’s investigations included:

  • To what extent was anti-Semitism normalized by Nazi violence during the Weimar Republic?
  • To what extent was King Victor Emmanuel III's appointment of Benito Mussolini as prime minister in 1922 primarily caused by fears of socialism?
  • To what extent did Austria’s restrictions on social institutions between 1815 and 1823 aim to suppress nationalistic ideologies in the Italian Peninsula?

Their reports demonstrate how intellectual curiosity, paired with rigorous research, leads to a deeper understanding of the past. Congratulations to our IB History students on this accomplishment!
